Synod for god and everybody to hear that he had total authority i was done it is against democracy while trump does have a sturdy base the strength of republicans coming out against him cannot be overlooked. All right its coming up to 23 actually actually gone past 2300 hours g. M. T. 6 pm on the east coast and youre watching aljazeera special coverage of the 2020 u. S. Election as you can see from the truck at the top right of your screen were about an hour from the 1st polls closing on the east coast go straight to our White House Correspondent kimberly. Kimberly the big question looming of course is when when when when will we have an election whats the feeling at the white house behind you. I can tell you that the feeling at the White House Well the president projected a lot of optimism you can tell that there is a lot of tension behind the scenes the president has been very optimistic promising that there will be a red wave that he will be able to flip states that were typically democrat leaning to republican as he didnt 2016 and hes promising that hell do that again but at the same time the u. S. President in recent days has been feeling and projecting a bit more of a realize ation that the polls the National Polls that show his challenger joe biden in the lead may be correct and as the u. S. President visited some of his supporters in Arlington Virginia earlier a few hours ago heres what he had to say. You know im not thinking about concession speech or acceptance speeches. Hopefully you will be only doing one of those 2 and you know. Winning is easy losing is never easy now for me its not. Now i can tell you that the u. S. President is in the white house behind me right now were watching very carefully to see what his movements might be we know that in the east room of the white house there is some assembly being set up what this means is really unclear will this be some sort of celebration will this be a president making a speech its really very hard to challenge so we have our eyes and ears on that hes from to see what will happen we also have our eyes and ears i dont know if you can hear those drums that are in the background there but as i look down behind me i can tell you folly that there are very large crowds growing underneath the balcony that im standing on this is block lives matter plaza it used to be the base of 16th street Lafayette Park in front of the white house but the crowds there are anticipating a celebration they are hoping donald trump will become a one term president and of course if it doesnt look like it will go in that direction the fear of course is that there will be civil unrest so thats the other thing were also watching very carefully indeed we are thank you kimberly committee White House Correspondents lets not go live to mike hanna who is in bloomington done away the home state of the democratic candidate joe biden we heard the feeling there from the white house worse a feeling where you are opinion polls have looked pretty good for the biden camp in the lead up to the next what are you looking at mike as an unpredictable aspect. Well clearly just to begin with some broking breaking news in the last fall so the governor of the moment a republican scott has just confirmed that hes. As voted for joe biden now the significance of this is that these the 1st incumbent. Republican to actually cost of vote in favor of joe biden said this in a way very significant found some polls have already closed in indiana and kentucky got the reply to the 3 biden people here keeping their eyes very closely on those polls that close in just under an hour georgia and florida these are key issues for the Biden Campaign doing well in either of those states so both of them at very good indicator about what is going to come for the rest of the night but joe biden and self in the course of the day has made very clear that he is reluctant to make any predictions however he did make very clear as well about any speculation that President Trump may announce a victory before all the results are tallied this is what joe biden had to say. Residents care. Voters a term president this is. No matter where you go to work you. Know this campaign has been largely dominated by the coronavirus pandemic and even on a minute when the results are coming in the difference between the 2 candidates on the issue is absolutely stuck here at the Biden Campaign headquarters there are mitigating measures in place massive social distancing exercise to the media kept away from the Convention Center by huge parking lots the Trump Campaign its holding a party in the trump hotel in washington hundreds of invited guests joining President Trump at the white house joe biden himself at the moment we understand hes sitting at home waiting for the results to come in so even on election day 2 very different ways of marking this important day mike hanna in a wilmington delaware now of all the important battleground states were covering and were watching tonight florida is arguably the most important to win and it has a check and Election Night history aska mosque santamaria explains down. Well we could talk about florida all day really because it is that important and it has so much history you just have to ask al gore that on our 2020 battleground map florida is very much the biggest prize with its 29. 00 Electoral College votes at stake and here is why we would call it the ultimate swing state and i mentioned al gore he ran against george w. Bush in the year 2000 the fate of that entire presidency rested on florida look at the top line the results are so close as to be unclear it took 36. 00 days plus the Supreme Court battle over the recount to eventually declare bush the winner the margin in the end was just 537. 00 votes the last 2 elections they were really close as well 2012 barack obama beats mitt romney by less than one percent and in 2016 trump is just 1. 2 percent of Hillary Clinton floridas voters they are some of the most diverse in the country 17 percent of registered voters are hispanic but in florida were talking about some Diverse Communities youve got the republican leaning cuban americans over to the democratic leaning Puerto Ricans there is also a significant Elderly Population to think about look at the 3rd line here almost a quarter of the population is over the age of 65 and these are of course the people most vulnerable to coronavirus joe biden has been spending a lot of political ad dollars to win their support here but you know it goes deeper than demographics is what if we look at the map a little closer the counties between tampa and orlando this is the i 4 highway they are traditionally seen as politically important to winning this state it is no coincidence donald trump launched his Reelection Campaign right here in orlando and biden chose the same region for his 1st trip to florida as a nominee bottom line for more than half a century barring once in 992. 00 the Sunshine State has always picked the president ial winner and all of that is why florida matters. Well for more on why florida matters in whats going on there lets bring in Andy Gallagher in miami and he said florida has a diverse population but is generally conservative leaning is there a path to victory for donald trump that doesnt include florida. It will be very difficult for the president to win the white house without florida for joe biden its a different matter so thats why this state not just because it is the biggest battleground state only california and texas has more d votes its just it is that price of the white house and the i 4 corridor that kemal was just talking about that is the road that runs east to west across the middle of the state through orlando and through tampa thats really the area that nominees have to win because youve got every kind of community through there but lots of independent and lots of swing voters places like Pinellas County so all that will be being watched very carefully now the polls are close in about 50 minutes in most of the state remember the Florida Panhandle is in a different time zone so its an hour later and 9000000 people fall have voted here early when you look at the entire count for the 2016 election it was 9 and a half 1000000 voted in their entirety so that shows you the level of and views you as im the level of concern that people have and how much at stake there is in this election but any indication from this state could be taken as an indication for how the entire country goes because of the demographic makeup of this country theres a saying here as florida goes so goes the nation so we should be getting the preliminary results here in maybe 22. 00 and a half hours and that might be the real litmus test for this antiair president ial election being watched very closely of course over the past few weeks joe biden has had the edge in all the polls but it is within the margin of error of about 3 and a quarter percent so all to play for it looks like a neck and neck tie a very very close race indeed but at least in this state things. Seem to be pretty well organized we were at a polling station this morning it was virtually empty in fact one voter came up to us and said scuse me can you tell me where the polling station is because it was so quiet that is how many people have voted early those votes are already being counted the results we hope should come in fairly quickly expected at one g. M. T. Those results say in florida thank you Andy Gallagher in miami now aside from the Coronavirus Fund demick tension over race and demands for Police Reform are hanging heavily over these elections the Police Killing of a black man george floyd in minneapolis unleashed the biggest racial protest since the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960 s. Theres been reckoning with how racist portrayed in need entertainment for sent across society and reforms to Law Enforcement though not enough for those who want to defund the police elsewhere in the world people also rose up against symbols of racism and historic slavery in the u. S. Donald trump threatened and in some cases deployed force against demonstrators his message of law and order became a central theme in his Reelection Campaign george floyd was among 897 people who died at the hands of police this year more than a quarter of them were black when i speak to natasha go name who is in minneapolis minnesota a late battleground state in 2020 this is a state of course where there were protests as we said against racism and Police Violence after the killing of george floyd and president went in there with a message of law and order natasha what impact has that had and how will it play out in the way the state votes. Its clear that the black lives matter most movement energized democrats but its also clear that for other voters concerned about the pilots the looting and the rioting in minneapolis may into june voters that we spoke to. Some voters we spoke to were really concerned and for them President Trumps message as you said of law and order really resonated with them but this state has been a traditional stronghold for democratic president ial candidates President Trump has set his sights on minnesota because in 2016 he lost the state by less than 45000 votes and he viewed it as a missed opportunity but trump has 50 almost 50 years of history to undo because minnesota in that time period since 1972 has given its 10 electoral votes to a democratic president ial candidate the strategy of the Republican Party has been to try to minimize losses in progressive cities such as st paul and minneapolis and its suburbs and drive engagement and voter turnout in more conservative areas in the south and northern parts of minnesota and President Trump has been very aggressively campaigning in the state his advertisements have wallpapered the airwaves but bite into has also been here several times theyve both for most recently here on friday joe biden. Is viewed as having a lot in common with the states very favorably rated moderate governor democratic governor dip tim walz there viewed as having many similarities and they campaigned together and it was believed that tim walz might actually give biden a boost now both as they were here on friday the pandemic loomed large right now minnesota is considered a red zone because of the surge in coded by 900 cases so when trump was speaking to a crowd on friday he was lashing out at restrictions in the state that barred at the end restricted the number of. Supporters he could have it is rally he called radical democrats the reason that quote 25000 people couldnt have been at his last rally he said if biden were elected the next president there would be a National Lockdown that would be. Very bad news for Young Americans and that suicides would be on the rise meanwhile biden said that he would handle the pandemic better and he criticized tropp for making claims that doctors and nurses are profiting from covert dight teen. Natasha good name in minneapolis well lets talk more about the issue of race and its aim packed on this election back again genoud king a Republican Party analyst and cofounder of georgia speaks joining us from Sandy Springs in georgia and derek from a democratic strategist and a political analyst live from washington d. C. Im very excited to talk to you both about the specific issue of race and criminal justice which now let me start with you once again donald trump says hes done more for blacks in the u. S. And any other president besides lincoln what has he done for africanamericans in the last 4 years. Well the list can go on and on and on but well just start with the record low unemployment will start where you know the 1st step add for the thousands of individuals primarily africanamerican males from prison im due to the crazy 1904 crime bill we can talk about a. P. C. You finding we can that now so there are a species president s dont have to be for money every 2 years but now they have to answer to new year lease on that as well as he provided them additional funds i guess and would go on and on of and most importantly he provided the black community the policies right and not just rhetoric. But hes made some some rather controversial comments about africanamericans and blacks and just a few weeks ago jad kushner his advisor and son in law said you know a rather racist stereotypes about africanamericans saying that if African Americans want to be successful they have to want to be successful isnt that a problematic way to look at africanamericans well thats not what he said so thats what the media reported but what he said was that the president is an author who can do even a president that the president can want to who are you so you have to want opportunity there as well and thats what he said and thats absolutely correct right if you talk to these you know still help books and read you know some helpful or anytime you have a person who is encouraging you to do better for yourself and the 1st step to having anything is wanting it 4 years ago when you actually actually policy and think that its going to work for you derek i saw you rolling your eyes there when journalists how do you respond. Yes so a couple interesting things one the list actually isnt that very long trunk actually has not done very much for after. One when you look at unemployment it was already turning down so when he took off this unemployment for the after marriage black community was at 7. 5 percent and went down to 5. 4 percent under is administration it has gone back up to 12. 6 percent since the end demit least where we are right now so what that means is that it was already turning down with donald trump like city credit for things that he just did not do criminal justice for barack obama and was already moving that through so when trent signed the 1st step act there were already policies in place that are already moving in that direction and more importantly she was the driving force behind it there were democrats and republicans in congress that were doing that the doug collins of the world in georgia so i would i would think that you know would actually give some credit to the republicans and democrats who actually did the work on this i would also say that its a fallacy right to think that donald trump has you know this idea that. You know down trump has been a champion for issues that we care about this is not true you talked about you know the unrest the summer and when you have peaceful africanamericans black people in the streets saying that we want to insist immigration system we have a president who doesnt think civic racism is real right we have clearly makes a point now i mean donald trump doesnt think systemic racism exists in america that that is a problem in itself isnt it. Well the problem is a systemic racism exists within the Democratic Party this is a systemic racism is exactly what about the notion that the Republican Party is a racist party is that wrong. And the key word is notion so im actually in the Republican Party and im a black woman believe me the only times i experience racism is when i deal with white liberals who seem to want to educate me on the black experience so that when i do with racism or from black democrats who tell me that im not black or joe biden who calls our call our black men predators and said then you need to hide your kids and hide your wife right because black men are coming for you and my opinion is that when you have less allow daring to respond direction is right that joe biden has made some controversial comments as well about black people saying that you know if black voters who considered to vote for donald trump if they were considering to vote for donald trump then they werent black he said you aint black if youre considering to vote for donald trump thats pretty problematic isnt it what do you say to to that out. I think a couple things one he also apologized so what weve seen and what we need in a president is someone who recognizes you know what maybe i misspoke maybe i shouldnt have said those things but i think its also really important to recognize that who the current president is when it comes to these types of issues so good. To know god bless you the fact that you dont think systemic racism exists you are in the minority you are in the minority in terms of the black community you are in the minority when it comes to the american constituents i would also say that systemic racism is a real thing that so many of us have have to confront and deal with on a daily basis whether we talk about employment issues so when we you know earlier we were talking about the pandemic there is a reason why africanamericans black people were and have been disproportionately impacted by the failed trauma ministrations response to it were seeing higher levels of death were seeing higher levels of contraction but we are talking about the Economic Impact of what has happened we see that so now i should like to respond very quickly because were running out of time to now. Ok very quickly the reason why we saw high levels of contraction in the black community is because when you were peacefully protesting we were socially distancing aware of math and were allowed to actually use the protesting in our Contract Tracing back theres a lot of the state and the reason why you see a lot of africanamericans dying from coke at 19 is because the condition due to food deserts that are in our community i maybe an apology. But im tired of apology im tired of him apologizing for the crime bill im tired impala jon for all the people impact and all the black people that continue to suffer because of the 50 years of no action from the Democratic Party i want results i want action i want policies thats going to actually change the lives of people you cannot legislate heart issues racism is a hard issue this is good and its evil in this world so its to you lare to get over the feelings of everything and start focusing on the results of things are emotional response in 20 seconds. Well its clear that you know what results he voted for by the city so kudos to you. We have not seen results from president s from anything meaningful i would also say that we have someone who has called black people animals who says that we come from s. Whole country when he wants you just let me say that when im telling you im going to college i thought he was a leader that we could keep this going thank you very much thank you both. So now king Derrick Pramod lets all check in with one of our correspondents in new york where they were also lots of black eyes matter protests gabler his own dough voters were allowed to cast an early ballot for the 1st time in new york and new york reliably democrat gate but i imagine theres a lot of nervousness there after what happened in 2016. Thats right if youre a democrat youre nervous no matter where youre at in america right now because of course theyve seen all the polls as well polls showing that most of them that joe biden in most of the polls is doing quite well however democrats dont want to hear much of that because they remember 4 years ago when most of the polls also showed that Hillary Clinton was way ahead of donald trump and we all remember what happened then and particularly democrats here in new york because Hillary Clinton had her Victory Party on Election Night set up right here in new york at a Convention Center with thousands of guests well that turned into a as we all know now d a defeat party as many of the guests left in tears now this is clearly a blue state a little bit of trivia the last time that a republican president ial candidate won the state of new york can you guess yet to go all the way back to 19 eightyfour with Ronald Reagan defeated Walter Mondale so this very much is a blue state we saw lots of people out at the polls today and we got to talk to a few of them and you could really get in. The sense that new yorkers consider this to be a very important election listen to what they had to say. This tell the urgings. Voting in 2016th transformational didnt work out the way i wanted it to but this feels urgent im nervous shock to see whats happening in the country and you know. Its a Fair Election every vote including losing today and in fact. Were also watching very closely the swing state of North Carolina with its 15 electoral votes all polls indicate that that is very neck and neck between trump and biden as well the polls were supposed to close there at 730. 00 local time about an hour from now however theyve been delayed theyre staying open for an extra 45 minutes because at a few polling stations in North Carolina there were some technical difficulties we expect to get the 1st batch of results from mail and ballots from the critical state of North Carolina about an hour and a half from right now well be watching those closely and bring you those results as soon as we get a minute game elizondo in new york thank you Joe Bidens White house ambitions date back decades the former Vice President s Election Campaign has been described as no key and measured in contrast to the im bostic sign of donald trump how would this send bidens decades in washington playing the white house. In our d. C. Studio. Right you said there is one that was of the overall plan is just dont get covert dont say too much and you should be able to pull it out and its interesting we have more to consult poll from this morning with the top reason for voting for joe biden was 56 percent respondents saying hes not donald trump lets bring in our guests once again there we spoke to in the last hour Stephanie Brown james in Cleveland Ohio cofounder and chair of the collective Political Action committee and former national africanamerican vote director for the 2012 obama for America Campaign in Montgomery Alabama we have Jack Kingston hes a former republican congressman from georgia a former Senior Adviser to Donald Trumps 2016 president ial campaign and once again from bethesda maryland without a lichtman professor of history of American University the author of the keys to the white house a prediction system that correctly predicted outcomes of the u. S. President ial races since 94. 00 its been without professor in that case that we talked about your system in the last hour does that mean then that donald trump going to run against a paper bag and he would have lost that does it matter who biden is. It didnt matter who biden is i mean obviously if youre going to go through the nomination process youve got to be you know a basically competent and affective candidate but we know. Joe biden is no barack obama is no john f. Kennedy but the essence of my sure system is that a pragmatic electorate basically decides whether the party holding the white house marriage should another 4 years based on its record of governing so i look at the big picture of incumbent strangelet performance things like Midterm Election results d kind of a halfway referendum where theres a big 3rd party protest movement whether someone is challenging the sitting president for the nomination if the sitting president is running long and short term Economy Policy social unrest dandle Foreign Policy successes and failures and only 2 keys relate to the candidates and i dont give joe biden the challenger charisma kay take out against donald trump im Stephanie Bron james thats the point i mean joe biden doesnt do terribly well with his record for a lot of voters because hes always been the establishment candidate hes always moved to the right ever since the beginning of his career on the new deal he went straight into the austerity tax cuts trickle down economics campbell on economics he was all for obviously the costal state with his crime bill that to the the enormous imprisonment of africanamericans he was known as the senator from m. B. I. A. The Credit Card Company based in delaware his home state one of his biggest donors his bankruptcy bill is infamous for protecting Credit Card Companies over those people have to max out their credit cards and steeple who facing Student Loan Debt but now hes talking about f. D. R. Now hes coming hes not going to run again its thought so if you became president maybe he wouldnt be beholden to his donors he may be looking at a legacy which might mean were looking at here. You know to be honest i think most of the points you raised would be raised by a washington d. C. Inside about insiders because i think Everyday Americans those who support joe biden think of him as uncle joe did not go to him as the man and that decided to be sensible rob obama and i think about him for being extremely well wait a minute he won the election because because of all the happened to him to see didnt even support bidens nomination in the 1st place. He basically got all the other candidates to gang up against Bernie Saunders who was far more popular among some Younger Voters and indeed some of these perhaps was dealing with some of the issues that disaffected trump voters might care about this time around as well look were already getting some exit poll data back and weve already seen this 61 percent of voters who have voted today have said that they are voting for a joyride inch and 34 percent say theyre voting against donald trump so people are voting because they believe that joe biden has their best interest in mind that hes going to work to strengthen the middle class that hes going to bring back the Economic Security that we need in this country so yeah listen i dont you know theres a lot you can say about joe biden in the past the people who are voting when joe biden today imports a morrow because the country that we now have under that is so bad people are not time to be a little less for cancer you alluded to the sum of all star its a very good point that this is amazing coalition against the interim now which includes those never trumpet republicans the neo cons from the Bush Administration who gave us the iraq war d mass surveillance obviously barack obama then built on some of these things things like the war on terror and about surveillance but what do they want and retirement years that we know the wall street just what millions of dollars on buy but this time around we have that extreme right wing republican establishment starting millions of dollars on behalf of joe biden or theyre going to want to return. I think that they will go back to the status quo of the status quo as the military Industrial Complex enjoys wars and skirmishes around the globe because that way they get more weapons they see the flag officers and so you know you have witnesses that are troubled about wars but he still giving hundreds of billions dollars record amounts of money to that military Industrial Complex you just have to use them with military personnel and he really had all iraq to be released bombing after all but just think about this we have stayed out of syria against the will of the day oconnors many members and congress from both parties we have a relative peace as long as you can have it with north korea we have a strained relationship areas where we we should have a strained relationship but not make china we all know that joe biden threw a son a bit on the chinese role in the good gosh under biden rides on air force to do with the Vice President cuts a deal with china where hes paid 3000000 a but money that you think john didnt have to have anything on him i mean come on this guy for 47 years you cant say what joe biden has accomplished but you know that hunger biden has made a lot of money on it and that should disturb all americans because joe loved family members yeah i mean i think if we had family members have profited richer by and we dont necessarily know what impact it had on bidens policy making but out on lipman we do have this remains an election where this amazing coalition for joe biden now from progressives are holding their nose to vote for joe biden to those who are disaffected by dont trumps lack of bringing back manufacturing jobs for example at a time when the convent how if he has a president is he going to is going to navigate this and then there is that suspicion that a lot of the time the democrats really didnt learn from the defeat against trump i just want to go back to brunch on the obama ad they dont realize that the enormous this affected and blinking grievances from both from both progressives and from blue collar workers. I think youre actually right but i think biden has learned and has evolved he is talking a great deal about the grievances of blue collar americans and the need for an economy a Health Care Policy and a Climate Change policy that makes 38 you know we havent talked much about Climate Change you dont solve Climate Change nothing else is going but no one knows what he believes in a moment and hes talking about you know how important it all is and causes very much like obama who is a woman to talk about how important all is but the next minute pushing for a watered down paris climate deal and boasting about how carbon fuel the production of oil and fracking and so on all of the above policy no we dont know which one is which what is it is the test youve got to see if biden carries through with that i think theres enough just within the Democratic Party and i think the need is urgent anough so hes going to have to follow through on health care as well and i did my beloved love the Health Insurance companies weve noticed that actually because of curve it over with sick people realize wait of all of you know if you lose your job you lose your Health Care Still i mean so what is what hes still talking about he still seems to be against medicare for all and were saying the polls say majority of americans want that but biden assuming that old framework go forward people love the Insurance Companies you know thats not what he said and you know i dont want to get into this back and forth about by truck thats not why im here im here to talk about the keys to the white house the prediction system of them out here to defend. Hes easy is he actually pulling the Public Opinion what else have someone what he he and he has fallen Public Opinion because we know how to care remains one of those core most issues that voters have on their minds when they go into the polls and listen joe biden has said he wants to make sure people can stay on their kind Health Insurance plans to if they choose to do that he has said that he wants to work to make it as important a last. Yes he has a plan how do we still havent heard what the Health Care Plan is from donald trump. That is that is near you sure you should watch the last debate i mean to say nothing about his son carefully. Planned or not but let me say this 47 years can you tell me any signature legislation that joe biden has sponsored for 6 chance against them in a crime bill in the bankruptcy bill unfortunate for him but he says hes tried what i will have to leave it there. Stephanie brown was out on the very very much i mean it is an interesting time when those legacies those of you working against him with progressives who are all voting for joe biden but to follow the next hour well look at covert though which is very much related to this Health Care Debate with a different panel of guests thank you she have chambre time z. In d. C. There now it is of course Electoral College which will decide who becomes the next u. S. President is come on back again to explain how it works and is of course very controversial yeah and i think there are more than a few candidates candidates who would have a few words to say shall we say about the Electoral College fully the u. S. Definitely has a unique way of electing its president its kind of complicated its kind of contentious especially if youre talking about who actually got the most votes so lets step through it there are a finite number of electoral votes across the country each state is given its share of them and that share depends on the size of the states population so you most populous states the likes of these ones that say we got a bit of california weve got texas florida new york these have more Electoral College votes very simple now that finite number of electors it is the wife 500 38. 00 that is the Electoral College as an entity so if half of the 538. 00 is to think the 9 that means a candidate needs a minimum of 270. 00 to win so thats why we call it our magic number. Now when somebody goes in to actually cast their vote they are voting for these electors all these numbers of people in these states who will in turn give their votes to the candidate so its not that popular vote as such stay with me will keep going the states have a winner take all system which means if you get the most votes at the ballot box you get all the Electoral College votes on off about state that simple except maine and nebraska 2 states which split their Electoral College votes 3 different districts but were not getting into that right now thats a story for another time now to the contentious but i talked about in america it is possible to get fewer votes from the population and still win the election these guys they all did it 2 of them in the last 5 elections and of course if we were to just rewind 4 years Hillary Clinton got nearly 2900000 more votes from the public than donald trump but because trump flip the right states the crucial ones with the high electoral vote counts the pennsylvanians in the floridas he got passed to 70 before she could it is not necessarily fair and fact it is a compromise created by the Founding Fathers between the president being elected either by the people or by the congress they are the rules and everybody works to them every single election so with all that in mind what are the paths to 270. 00 Electoral College votes for these 2 men the men who are and would be president well were going to have a play with a few numbers here at the wall and look at how 1st of all donald trump could get to 270 well he could do it this way because thats how he did it in 2016 if we imagine that Hillary Clinton over here those are the exact numbers so if dont trump just keeps doing what he did 4 years ago and holds all those red states thats how he could win but it wont be easy because again were talking about the states that he flipped were talking about florida were talking about pennsylvania as well he has to work hard to hold on to those so thats. Very simple way of looking at how donald trump to do it lets think about how joe biden could change the numbers for a moment so what weve got is a scenario here where joe biden holds on to every state which Hillary Clinton won in 2016 which is very much conceivable then in this scenario what he does is flips wisconsin michigan and pennsylvania that is the socalled blue wall just with those 3 states he goes to 279 hes over there to 70 so thats one way and one more way i want to have a look at again using 2016 as the starting point this time joe biden flips the Southern States florida georgia North Carolina again he changes just 3 states hold all the Clinton States from 2016 hes at 293 there so there are many paths those are just the simplest ones of them this is totally what is a very unpredictable election we have not even tried. I can only try. Now voters thats talk about some of the issues now in voters have ranked the coronavirus pandemic and the economy as the top issues in the race for the white house thats according to a survey of about 130000 people thats just been released by the Associated Press news agency and in what could be a sign about how the countries voted 2 thirds said the u. S. Is currently heading in the wrong direction many said theyd been personally affected by the coronavirus pandemic with more than half saying the pandemic isnt under control only 18 percent said its completely or mostly under control and almost 60 percent said the economy isnt doing well what about 40 percent said its in an excellent position we want to show you now some live pictures from our side the white house as you can see crowds outside the residence of the u. S. President can really help it was talking to us only about. These i believe black lives matter protests. Or waiting i guess for the results of this election day will be celebrating if donald trump loses we could see perhaps some violence if he wins the election this is what committee hulk it was telling us earlier springer in covering the charm campaign. Not that big but its quite significant that were seeing them outside the white house on election day can be. Absolutely clarify. Im not 100 percent sure theyre black lives matters protesters even though thats what we are seeing on social media where theyre standing is the base of 16th street which has been named black lives matter plaza 7. What we dont know is whether or not they are part of the group or not so i just want to be really careful because as we reporters we have such a responsibility in our words can really have an impact reasonable with respect to that there also we should clarify that there was potentially a ras but we think this is relatively benign that it was about an illegally parked car ok but again that has been making some noise on twitter but the bottom line is is that what this is is essentially a party most of these people are not truck supporters and theyre hoping that they will be is celebrating a joe Biden Victory at the same time i can tell you the trunk campaign is hoping that they will be victorious we were talking about the issues can be any important to clarify what were talking what were seeing on the pictures right now im clear who these people are long but big picture kimberly and most president ial incumbents of was when a 2nd term trump has some significant Foreign Policy wins of course and was ahead in the polls when it came to the economy he was running for reelection on immigration trade in the economy and then the pandemic kate is this election ultimately a referendum on his handling of the coronavirus spending. Absolutely if anything what this is is not a vote for something but against something in so many cases what this is and what report voters have said repeatedly is that this is a referendum on donald trump for them they either love him or despise him and need him to be a one term president d and it looked as if trump was going to cruise to reelection just a year ago on a Strong Economy historically low unemployment but folly as you pointed out all of that wiped out as a result of cope with 19 i can tell you that the latest from the Campaign Manager is that he feels that theyve had a good ground game that theyve been able to talk to voters and theyre feeling very positive the us president also tweeting recently that he believes that things are looking good across the country but if you look at what some of the comments are coming from some of the data some of the people actually doing those ballots in polling stations what theyre saying is that the economy and coping with the number one issues for them were donald trump hows not done well and has scored low marks so this is worrisome for his Campaign Committee health care at the white house lets go to mike hanna now covering the democratic candidate joe bidens campaign in wilmington delaware biden mike so very focused on beating donald trump but bringing the country back together and restoring normalcy has. A very much different meaning than he did a year ago whats his plan. But once again the Biden Campaign focusing on the moment not making any clear predictions at this particular stage. Apologies we have lost a connection there to mike hanna who is covering the Biden Campaign for us of course we will raise tabish it with him and check in with him in just a few minutes its now 20 345. 00 g. M. T. And in just about 15 minutes or so the 1st battle polls will close on the east coast in the meantime lets discuss Foreign Policy a bit more 9 few World Leaders have benefited from the presidency then benyamin thats now these really Prime Minister who says his countrys never had a better friend in the white house but palestinians have been increasingly alya native leaving the prospect of a 2 state solution as remote as ever Harry Fawcett reports from occupied East Jerusalem. A few moments better sum up the lockstep relationship between Benjamin Netanyahu and donald trump the no meeting on the 15th of september at the white house we call ricky to the waiters ticket to our country and to our hearts thank you mr president and i have served this is true that you have the key to the hearts of the people of israel. Within minutes they were outside to sign deals normalizing israels relations with the United Arab Emirates and by her a in a development netanyahu called a pivot of history his palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas called it a stab in the back in may of 2017 donald trump hosted Mahmoud Abbas at the white house palestinian officials spoke optimistically of the chances of progress under this unorthodox new presidency but within months they were angrily rejecting any dealings with the troubled ministration a position prompted that december by trumps recognizing jerusalem as israels capital and only hardened by the policies that followed ending u. S. Funding for the Un Palestinian Refugee Agency and for the 1st time to the embassy of the United States and moving the u. S. Embassy from tel aviv to jerusalem a former israeli u. N. Ambassador says israel should be grateful for trump support but also wary of reliance on one president and one party the main task of israeli Prime Minister. And whoever becomes president of the United States on the 3rd would be to. Bring back that bipartisanship and restore the traditional historic relations between israel and the United States regardless of who is in the white house. Last year trump recognized israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights having a settlement named for him in return in january this year came the distillation of his policy on israel palestine the trump line and visioning israeli an accession of 30 percent of the occupied west bank to some zone what was the palestinian representative in washington until the us shut down the mission in 2018 oh. Well its. Not about to call a station is your vision its our obligation. In the end annexation was put on pause with the white house worried it could derail its plan and damage regional alliances normalization with the u. A. E. Provided the exit ramp and any ago the palestinians are trying to fight the idea that theyve been left marginalized Mahmoud Abbas calling for a multilateral Peace Process to replace the american led one but both he and us and you know who know from the last 4 years how much a us president can shape their conflict both know how much rides on the outcome of this election are a force it out zira occupied East Jerusalem unless discuss this further now with our panel joining us in haifa we have diana patel is a human rights lawyer and a former spokes woman for the palestinian liberation organization. Nancy soderberg is a former u. S. Ambassador to the u. N. Under the Clinton Administration and our senior political analyst once again thank you all for being here diana buttu let me start with you let me ask you 1st about what the administration has meant for palestinians has donald trump been their Worst Nightmare to come yes most definitely and i think its very important to keep in mind what exactly President Trump has done and he has he has ticked off every virtually every item off of netanyahu his wish list whether it was recognizing as the capital moving the embassy allowing for israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights closing the embassy the Palestinian Embassy cutting funding to the Palestinian Authority shutting down palestinian hospitals as much as he could and also cutting funding to the Palestinian Authority with the israelis have long wanted is to see palestinians disappear and they now they have had. A president in place who has made sure that virtually every item on their wish list has come true so another 4 years is just going to mean even more of that and the attempt to virtually extinguish palestinians and their rights. Go down to bhutto says another 4 years would be catastrophic would a Biden Administration be able to define relations between israel and palestinians differently how might they do it will they have reversed the decision for instance to recognize the. Capital the move to the embassy and so on. I mean i think what weve seen under President Trump is a real risk to a 2 state solution and thats the big question that i think the next president is going to have to deal with and that has serious questions for israel or any of democracy and i think what youve seen is a shift in the thinking of the United States to remove ourselves as an honest broker in that area whether we can get that back is a big question and i think the arab states not yet saudi arabia but youve got bahrain. Sudan and not yet saudi arabia but i think what youve seen is an increase in the concern about arising in iran and now that the Nuclear Program is kind of back on track and so you see the arab states its really now become a sunni shia competition in the middle east and whether or not a by the administration can shift that back hopefully that the Nuclear Genie back in the bottle in iran and get back to trying to really work on a 2 state solution i honestly dont know whether that it still cost them argument whats happened to me ask you marwan do you think 2 state solution is still viable. You know its not and it hasnt been for a while what did i want it to his credit but certainly what he did was basically push the reality that already exists in palestine which is an israeli dictate that yes israel is a democracy what is Jewish Population but its certainly been a dictatorship but a sign and hence is sponsored towards israel has been destructive of result what all policy in the middle east which you support dictatorships and its in fact the support predicted the ships against their own people and that brought israel and some of the out of the get those together i dont think it was just iran yes iran was a factor but the real fact there was democracy and human rights for the palestinians and for the arabs thats why not to and and and and well talk or see if you will like that from a straight should basically brought together an israeli dictate the ship and not a dictatorship and called it peace and it was supposed to be that they have the same trimaran. Yes it was really the deal of the century but i think you know whats this night is over a new dawn if you will you know is upon us in america i think not many people are going to remember george bush well you know for all the cases that we have now its going to be at the end of the century its going to be the escape of the century we might end up you know seeing him in tel aviv or over a coffee shop or that be another an administration but were just one less war than that believe me if trump wins again you know its good question it could be the next up to respect all right well were not there yet and we will see what happens in the next yeah design of bhutto we talked about normalization and the fact that the u. S. Has this deal now with a number of arab nations to normalize relations with israel its clear having spoken to many palestinian leaders of the last few weeks that they feel abandoned by the arab world by their traditional allies what happens if more normalization deals are agreed if the big one of course saudi arabia agrees to normalize relations with israel. But israel can try to normalize with as many countries as it as it wants to but at the end of the day it knows and we know and the world knows that it is not normal its an occupier its a its its an oppressor its a colonizer and so they can tried as much as they want to ignore palestinians to go around us but at the end of the day israel knows that the only way that they will ever have any semblance of peace is if they actually and their military rule over palestinians they can try to go around us as much as they want to theyve been trying to for decades but we know that that he with palestinians its just a shame that we see that these arab dictatorships of these arab regimes are trying to normalize things that are abnormal rather than Standing Firm and standing strong and standing tall and standing against the very reason that we do not have selfdetermination in the arab world as a whole because of the presence of israel i would have expected that instead they would stand alongside those whove been oppressed rather than those who are doing the oppressing but this is the world that were living in these days Nancy Soderberg how is the normalization deal the socalled abraham accord how is that being viewed in the u. S. It seems both democrats and republicans are in favor of it despite the unfavorable topography. Americans on the democratic side in the republican side both line israel to get recognized by the arab world and have peace established with its arab neighbors i think the challenge here Going Forward is how are you going to deal with not just the issue of the palestinian question which was in the Clinton Administration and we got it on the eve of his last month in office peace between palestinians and israelis and felt part dates back to when rabin was assassinated and i think that real hope for peace was severely damaged back then and weve been struggling ever since but i think the broader picture here is how do we deal with saudi arabia because thats pulling the strings here they could push the. Narrative much farther in terms of trying to get an arab position on supporting a Palestinian Statehood and trying to push back on iran but youre dealing with saudi that i think its getting more dangerous not less and to me thats going to be a huge issue for an incoming by the migrations kenley established that will a ship to a little bit more normal and lastly i just we will have professionals involved in this process that understand the nuances and dont just kind of deal is that theyre reflecting reality one hanging fruit but really getting at some of the tougher ones right mind when i think on let me ask my one how do you think a Biden Administration would deal with saudi arabia. It will do with a very different from the top and the destruction but still remember that started his tenure by visiting to riyadh and embracing that showed you because the ship and in fact embrace it gets war in yemen i think like like back in saudi arabia the Trump Administration also embrace that because the ship in egypt they basically embraced every all the victim in the middle east and i think by there were problems they could distance from there so it would be more out it would take a distance from the egyptian dictatorship it would be different i dont think its going to be perfect i dont think its going to be the best thing ever but certainly it will contrast dramatically wrong with strong policy toward store stick to the ships thank you thank you all 3 of you for this interesting discussion lets now checking with donald trump has had a very public and turbulent history with social media and has been been censored by twitter laya tell us more yeah he has folly after taking Office Donald trump quickly went from being called commander in chief to being called the tweeter in chief and his relationship with twitter has been rather unusual as im sure you know it started with him actually censoring himself this is a list of all of the tweets that he has deleted himself 926 of them actually in total including this really famous one when he said despite the constant negative press confest say he deleted that a few hours after he posted it then and he twitter actually started censoring the president in may he tweeted twice saley saying that mail in ballots were going to be fraudulent but twitter put up this warning on each of them encouraging voters to get the facts about mail in ballots then in june trump said that there would be violence in washington d. C. In the u. S. Capitol following the death of george floyd twitter hid the tweet saying that it violated its rules with about glorifying violence the tweet can still be viewed you just have to click on that low. A warning sign 1st and then the list just keeps on going in october trump said that covert was less lethal than the flu facebook actually deleted this post twitter had it saying its spread potentially harmful information and his most recent censored tweet was actually just posted yesterday on monday when he warned of violence on the streets twitter responded with a link about how voting is safe and secure now trump has come back at social media saying that an executive order has been signed to end a law called section 230. 00 it allows social media sites to edit content that they deem inappropriate if this is repealed these companies could actually be sued for blocking and changing content from users like trumps tweets but interestingly joe biden also wants to repeal that law it may be one of the few things the president ial hopefuls agree on they at thank you very much it is now midnight g. M. T. And voting is ending in 6 states on the east coast this hour cmon is here the early numbers and projections its like trying to talk about ive been pm but well lets temporary expectations not that much but we have got real coming in hello everyone 7 pm on the u.
