Alleged cannibal may receive third competency evaluation Updated Dec 22, 2020; Facebook Share SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, MI – The man accused of killing a Swartz Creek man and cannibalizing parts of his body could receive a third competency evaluation at the request of his defense. Douglas Corwin Jr., public defender for Mark D. Latunski, said he is set to go before a circuit court judge on Wednesday, Dec. 23, and plans to make a motion to perform another competency evaluation. Latunski, 51, has been charged with open murder and mutilation of a body in connection with the Dec. 28, 2019 death of 25-year-old Kevin Bacon. Bacon’s body was found in a secret room in the basement of Latunski’s former Bennington Township home in rural Shiawassee County. Latunski allegedly killed Bacon and ate parts of his body.
