Mackenzie Allessie on Monday was named the Big Ten’s Offensive Player of the Year and a first team All-Big Ten selection as the league announced its postseason awards. Her teammate,
Leanne Bough, earned second team All-Big Ten honors while senior captain
Nikki Trzaska was the Buckeyes’ Sportsmanship Award honoree.
Allessie led the conference goals scored (14), goals per game (1.17), points (32) and points per game (2.67). She is Ohio State’s first winner of the Offensive Player of the Year award in 13 years, since Linda Haussener in 2008. The three previous times that a Buckeye won it, they all shared it with someone else, making Allessie the program’s first-ever outright winner of the award.
