Alton will seek bids for Riverfront Park work

ALTON — Aldermen on Wednesday night approved soliciting bids by the Department of Planning and Development for Phase 8 improvements to Riverfront Park.
The park improvements were part of the projects list cited in the 2019 State of the City address by Mayor Brant Walker. The improvements were planned to be completed in the summer of 2020, but were pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Alton aldermen on Wednesday also approved amending Section 3 of Chapter 7 of Title 11 of the City Code pertaining to guestrooms allowed within a bed and breakfast. Originally, the code stated that only four guestrooms will be allowed in a bed and breakfast, whereas the state allows five guestrooms.
