PHILADELPHIA - A former Amazon employee sued the online retail giant in the Eastern Pennsylvania District Court after he was allegedly terminated due to marijuana use despite having a medical marijuana license, according to documents filed on March 1. Plaintiff Nathan Miller worked at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Carlisle in a seasonal position. Miller says that the defendant, including his immediate supervisors, knew that he carried a valid medical marijuana license due to his severe post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. The plaintiff says he had a record of stellar and productive employment. In July 2020, Miller applied with Amazon to make his seasonal position permanent. He was informed that he had to successfully complete a drug test through the Quest Diagnostics Clinic Laboratories, also named as a defendant in the case, before hiring.
