Amazon driver helped others steal his delivery van, court records show

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — An Amazon delivery driver is charged with several felonies after allegedly helping others to steal his Amazon Prime van in a crime initially reported as a carjacking.
Lawrence Edward Clay Jr., 21, of Kentwood, was arraigned Friday, July 2 in 63rd District Court in Grand Rapids Township.
Police say Clay reported the Amazon van was carjacked about 12:50 p.m. as he made a delivery near Oak and James streets in Rockford. He told police he saw a gun in the robber’s waistband and he handed over the keys.
