Early Sunday morning, New York State troopers responded to a report of a two vehicle collision on Route 11 in the Town of Gouverneur. In their investigation, they found that a Ford Escalade had struck a horse-drawn buggy, which ultimately resulted in the death of 23-year-old Levi Schwartzentruber Jr., Antwerp, Ny. The Gouverneur Rescue Squad loaded his companion, 20-year-old Mose Schwartzentruber into an ambulance and drove to the Gouverneur Hospital to treat his leg and shoulder pain. Their horse was severely injured, too. Meanwhile, the St. Lawrence County coronor pronounced Levi dead at the scene; police are still investigating.
