A FORMER Dunbar Grammar School pupil has scooped a national award as she gets ready to pursue a career in science. Annabel Stewart won the Foundation Apprentice of the Year prize at the Scottish Apprenticeship Awards, delivered by Skills Development Scotland. The 18-year-old chose a Foundation Apprenticeship as a subject choice as she was unsure what she wanted to do after school. She was keen to gain some workplace experience while achieving a qualification at the same level of learning as a Higher. Working at Charles River Laboratories’ base between Tranent and Elphinstone, Annabel, of Dunbar, assisted with the lab work and data compilation for real-life agrochemical studies using different soil types.
