Cumbria County Council is looking to include the paths in its Definitive Map through a modification order. The group has been battling for years to have a network of footpaths registered as public rights of way. And they've been involved in a long running dispute with the landowner about access to the site. In 2017, for example, the fight came to a head at a meeting of the county council's development control and regulation committee, where a decision was taken. The landowner objected to a motion put forward by Labour county councillor Alan McGuckin proposing that the rights of way be implemented.
