Boothbay blue is out and gray slate is in for the proposed senior housing complex at the former Henry T. Wing School. In addition, portions of a building facing Water Street will be flanked with a red brick facade to blend more seamlessly with the original brick school building built in 1927. That was the compromise worked out among members of the Sandwich Historic District Committee and the architect working on the $53 million downtown development. âIâm not telling you that you have to do anything, but I would love to see the colors a little warmer,â said Mary E. Foley, chairman of the HDC. âThe blue popped out as awkward-looking.â
