Architects mourn end of virtual planning meetings
Architects have spoken out over the end of virtual planning meetings, which will halt across the country from today (6 May)

Last week a group of councils failed in a High Court bid to challenge the decision on the basis that virtual committees could be permitted under existing local government rules.
There are now widespread fears of planning delays, with doubts over whether local councils will be able to physically hold meetings until the government’s Covid restrictions are eased in mid-June.

Anna Kiho, associate at HLM Architects, described the move to scrap virtual meetings as ‘a step backwards in the current climate’.
