Arrest of ex-PDEA director 'hired to kill' Wee to fast-track

THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is now in possession of electronic evidence that will help identify the mastermind behind the murder of lawyer Joey Luis Wee.
NBI 7 Director Renan Oliva said cellular phones were recovered from retired Colonel Edwin Layese, the alleged contractor hired to execute the murder of Wee last November.
Layese was arrested by NBI 7 agents in Cebu City on Jan. 13, 2021.
He was a former director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Western Visayas and a former member of the Philippine Army. He is currently a security officer of a business establishment at the Cebu Business Park.
