Somehow the act of handwriting words and sentences to communicate is fading from our culture. Gone are the days of letters to and from grandparents. Instead, we FaceTime or, more recently, Zoom. Gone are the days of mailing a postcard to friends while you were on vacation (which, admittedly, often did not arrive until after you were home). Instead, we take a selfie with the mauve beach scene behind us and text it instantly. While electronic forms of communication are certainly fast, something gets lost in the translation. When we took the time to think more, we included more. The greatest disadvantage of electronic communication is that not everyone has the technological means. But never fear, handwriting letters is not dead. Pen pals are not a myth; they do exist.
