Assam assembly election: Three fronts, one close battle

Synopsis
The BJP is facing the problem of plenty with too many ticket seekers. It is likely to field at least 10-15 new faces. The RSS has cautioned the BJP to rein in ticket aspirants as dissatisfied ticket seekers can work against the party.

Assam is likely to face a three-cornered fight with the BJP-led front, the Congress-led grand alliance and the regional front gearing up for the three-phase (March 27, April 1 and April 6) elections to the 126-member assembly, reports Bikash Singh from Guwahati.
BATTLE FRONTS
The BJP together with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) and the Gana Suraksha Party (GSP) is targeting to win 100-plus seats.
