State Representative Jonathan Steinberg (D-Westport), who calls it "one of the priority bills of the public health committee," is one of the driving forces for getting assisted suicide approved this legislative session. He and other proponents promise there would be safeguards, but those regulations have failed in other states. Cathy Ludlum, head of Second Thoughts Connecticut, tells One News Now Steinberg faces stiff opposition. She also says supporters of assisted suicide fail to fully explore alternatives.
