MTSU pitcher Aaron Brown, who had a dominant season for the Blue Raiders in 2021, cashed in on it Monday in the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft. The former 6-foot-4 right-handed Mt. Juliet standout was drafted in the ninth round by the Houston Astros with the 268th overall pick. "I couldn't have asked for a better organization," Brown said. "I've been playing since I ever remember throwing a ball against the house. I started at Vanderbilt and got some relief, and then went to JUCO and came back home. I had like 40 family members at MTSU games. "I can't thank the coaches enough and the opportunity I had to play against so many great teams. ... I threw some bullpen with the Astros in Cincinnati about six weeks ago. Sure enough, they drafted me. I head out next week to West Palm to get things rolling."
