ASTORIA â Peter Hatch and John Goodell from the Elakha Alliance will present âOregonâs Lost Sea Otters: Restoring a Cultural Heritage and Ecological Keystoneâ for Lewis and Clark National Historical Parkâs monthly âNature Mattersâ lecture series at 7 p.m. Jan. 14. The pair will discuss the what might be gained from the return of sea otters to Oregon. Additional focuses will include the history of regional sea otters and the possible future of sea otters in Oregon.. The event will be hosted online at facebook.com/FortGeorgeBrewery/. Hatch is a member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians and works in the tribeâs Cultural Resources office. He is the son of the late David Hatch â the co-founder of the Elakha Alliance. Goodell is a conservation biologist and former museum curator with a background in science communication and natural history interpretation.
