Auckland police shooting: Man pleads guilty to murder of Con

Their trial got underway on Monday at the High Court.
Hunt died after being shot while carrying out a routine traffic stop in Massey, West Auckland, on June 19, 2020.
It’s understood Hunt, who was unarmed, was shot in the abdomen and pronounced dead at the scene.

Eli Epiha admitted killing Constable Matthew Hunt at the High Court.
His colleague was shot in the leg and taken to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.
Hunt was raised on Auckland’s Hibiscus Coast and was described by his family as a “classic coastie”.
He completed a criminology degree at Auckland University of Technology and worked as a case manager at Auckland Prison before joining the police.
