Australian public is nearing lockdown 'breaking point'

Cornerstone Group Senior Director James Cullen says imposing another lockdown on Victoria in the wake of the latest coronavirus outbreak will have “federal implications” in terms of the quarantine and vaccine programs.

Victoria is poised to enter its fourth lockdown as 11 new local cases were recorded overnight – taking the state's total case load to 26.

Mr Cullen told Sky News he did not believe it was “feasible” for states to be jumping in and out of lockdown for another six to 12 months.

“It really does escalate the pressure on the federal government over the next six or 12 months because there will be breaking point where I think the Australian public will [say] ‘enough is enough’,” he said.

“We’re well over a year into this thing and we’re still doing these sorts of lockdowns.”
