Avalanche danger 'high' in Utah mountains amid snowstorm Replay Video UP NEXT All the fresh powder in the mountains may be tempting, but Utah avalanche forecasters are pleading with everyone to stay out of the backcountry. Avalanche danger is high in the mountains across the state. "The avalanche danger is HIGH and may rise to EXTREME as the storm intensifies. Natural and human triggered avalanches are likely over the next several days. Stay off of and out from under slopes steeper than 30 degrees," the Utah Avalanche Center posted on Instagram. Skiers, snowboarders and snowmobilers are advised to stay off steep slopes and don't get beneath them because slides are expected.
