Avery appointed Principal at Ashland Elementary December 12, 2020ASHLAND — At their Dec. 1 meeting, the Ashland School Board appointed Kelly Avery as the School Principal for the next school year, extended the Christmas vacation, discussed basketball, donations and next year's budget, and learned of school activities. This school year, the Ashland School has been run by Associate Principal Kelly Avery and Interim Principal Steve Guyer. Formerly a teacher in the school, Avery has been taking classes needed to serve as the School's only principal in the next school year, and is now halfway through her required studies. At this meeting, Superintendent Mary Moriarty formally nominated Avery to serve as the Principal from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022, noting that she has done "an outstanding job." The School Board quickly and unanimously voted to appoint Avery to that position.
