4 European venture capital major Balderton Capital has named its first ever partner outside of London through the promotion of Colin Hanna. Hanna, who joined Balderton in 2016, is based in Berlin. Balderton said the promotion was a commitment to the city and the DACH region, with the firm having been investing in Germany since 2009. Balderton said it had historically wanted its team to be able to sit around one table, valuing person-to-person interactions. But it added, “We also believe that strong, authentic relationships with founders, built on trust, are the most valuable asset we can have. Part of being able to build those relationships means we need a stronger presence locally.”
