Balfour Beatty wins £32m health unit Balfour Beatty has won a £32m contract to build a new Ophthalmology and Orthopaedic health unit for NHS Highland. The 8,305 square metre National Treatment Centre in Inverness will include 24 inpatient rooms, five operating theatres, clinics and outpatient departments. It will provide elective musculoskeletal and eye services for the area. Hector Macaulay, regional MD of Balfour Beatty’s UK construction services business in Scotland & Ireland, said: “We are proud to be collaborating with NHS Highland to deliver a world-class National Treatment Centre that will improve the experience of patients through improved services and facilities.” The firm has recently worked on other health projects in Scotland including the £30m Glasgow’s NHS Louisa Jordan field hospital, on which it was paid £4.8m for its role.
