Tragedy is a crucible; activism is forged in its fire. It smoulders in individuals marked by loss and injustice. It burns brightest when tragedies are preventable; inadequate safety measures, legislative loopholes, or outright negligence add fuel to the fire.
Some reforms are easily won: Nobody makes their last stand against speed bumps in a school zone. Then there’s gun-control activism, which is like pushing a stalled car up a steep hill — even when the forest below is ablaze.
