Last week, Gov. Doug Burgum signed a proclamation designating North Dakota as a “Second Amendment Sanctuary State,” reinforcing the state’s support for the constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Commission president Bill Carlblom said the Barnes County Commission supports the Governor’s proclamation but acting on the advice of the North Dakota Association of Counties and the Barnes County State’s Attorney, we decided not to support the wording in the Rockne Earles resolution. A Barnes County woman had this response to the Governor’s proclamation.
