Flash Flood, Battle Creek's downtown waterpark, is preparing to reopen June 5 after being shut down for more than a year. Battle Creek originally intended to open the park this Saturday in time for the holiday weekend, but decided to wait another week so that the outdoor pool could operate without any COVID-19 restrictions. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer recently announced that Michigan's COVID-19 outdoor capacity limits would be lifted on June 1. "There'll be no outside restrictions at that point," said recreation technician Kimberly Walden. "We're excited to welcome everybody back without any of those complications that were in place." For those who are eager to hit the water over Memorial Day, the gates at Willard Beach will be open this weekend, Walden said.
