We were talking about the heat wave in europe yesterday. Germany, pollen and the Czech Republic all beat their highest everjune temporary records. In germany we had 38. 6, 38. 2. So extreme heat and it will still be hot again today. Tomorrow in Northern Europe it will start to freshen, but the temperatures will pick up once again as we head in towards the latter part of the weekend and also into the early part of next week. Now, for ourselves, we are looking at sunny and warm conditions today. What is happening is High Pressure dominating our weather. The area around it moves in a clockwise direction, so in the east we are seeing a bit more cloud and an onshore breeze. Some of that will stick along the north sea coastline, so for you it will be a touch cooler. So we start this morning with a fair bit of cloud around. We also have the cloud across the north and also the east of scotland, but mostly on the edges, so in some of the islands, for example, the far north of mainland scotland. But for the rest of the uk, it is dry and sunny. Also quite windy across the south west of england. Later we could have gusts up england. Later we could have gusts up to about 50 mph here. Temperature wise, today we could see quite high temperatures the further west that you do travel. 26 in glasgow, in the east, 21 or 22 in london and along the north sea coastline it will be cooler. Overnight we will see more of that cloud coming in from the north sea, quite a cloudy night, across many parts of the uk. Might be thick enough for the odd spot of drizzle. These are the temperatures you can expect to greet you first thing tomorrow, and once again we start off with a fair bit of cloud. Through the day that will burn back to the north sea coastline. Again, some of it could come back onshore at times, and if that happens it will keep the temperature down. So tomorrow, friday, we could have hires as much as 27 29 across western parts of scotland inland, and higher temperatures generally in the west. Saturday we have a weather front coming in from the west, Northern Ireland seeing some rain or some showers. Scotland will also see some showers. Scotland will also see some rain. Some of that will be thundery as it moves eastwards, but for most of england and wales it will be dry, sunny and hotter. Could see a little splash of rain across north west england, but temperature wise, in the south, around the Greater London area, 31 or 32. Fresher on sunday as the weather front moves through us all, but that might be the day you may be tempted to whizz right in there. And you wont be fined for it. What a shame i have all this stuff on. An interesting one in the times this morning, threat to airlines grossly underestimated. We know the chaos drones can cause at many airports, we saw that at gatwick last summer, but clearly here they are talking about the real risk of drones being in the airspace around airports. Most airports are investing a lot of money in anti drone technology, but this article makes it clear that even ones away from the airfield are still at a level that could affect aircraft. Many airports are now looking at what their preparations are. It also comes as pilots yesterday at British Airways voted to strike. They are asking for a pay rise of a. 5 , ba says no, and it could mean that over the Holiday Season there could be more strikes. It suggests that the average pilot is on about £150,000 per year but they want a a. 5 pay rise. The union says that is acceptable, ba says it is not.
