It is a cooler and a cloudier weekend for all of us. There will be some rain around too, some of it quite heavy, but its not going to be a complete washout for all of us. Join me laterfor all the details. Its saturday 27th july. Our top story donald trump says the uk and United States are working on what he called a very substantial post brexit trade deal. The president spoke with borisjohnson on the phone yesterday and claimed trade could be worth up to five times what it is now. Boris and i just spoke. I congratulated him and hes all set to go. Hes gonna be i think hell be do a greatjob. Were working already on a trade agreement. And i think it will be a very substantial trade agreement. You know, we can do with the uk we can do three to four times we were actually impeded by their relationship with the european union. We were very much impeded on trade. Lets get more on this now from our Political Correspondent tom barton, whos in our london newsroom this morning. President trump is obviously a fan of borisjohnson and brexit but trade deals can be tricky to negotiate . You are right. Very big promises there from donald trump. The two men have agreed to start negotiations as soon as possible after the uk leave the eu, which is the earliest point they are legally allowed to start negotiating. As you say, these trade deals can prove incredibly difficult. Negotiations have not yet started and already there are controversies around access for American Companies to the nhs, the quality of meat that may be imported from the usa. The two men clearly hope to build a strong personal relationship. President trump has heaped praise on borisjohnson, calling him written among other things, these negotiations have can ta ke yea rs things, these negotiations have can take years and often they boil down to Technical Details rather than the strength of a relationship between two men for britains trump. We know restau ra nt two men for britains trump. We know restaurant and is in the north west, he will be talking about trying to spread wealth and spread Infrastructure Spending amongst other things. What are we expecting him to focus on . Thats right. Alongside talking about brexit, he is keen to also highlight the things he wants to do elsewhere in the economy. Today, like you say, in a big speech in the north west, he will be talking about improving relics between leeds and manchester, new Trans Pennine train route. He says a deal to get that started could be signed by the autumn. It will also promise to even more quickly improve what he calls unglamorous Services Like buses. That announcement has been welcomed by the cbi and the Northern Powerhouse partnership labours mayor of manchester and the burnham went out the government has promised to improve those links already and he has questioned the ability of borisjohnson to actually achieve getting it done. Absolutely. Tom, thank you. Tom with the details and of course we will give you all of the details of that speech, the Prime Minister in the north west, with a series of announcements due over the weekend. Sports direct says it regrets rescuing house of fraser and warned that there will be more store closures. Sports direct boss mike ashley said the problems at the Department Store were nothing short of terminal. Andy moore reports. For house of fraser staff worried about their future, theres little reason for optimism in this set of results. The chain of stores employed around 17,000 people went mike ashley rescued it last year, and saved 31 of its 59 stores from closure. A handful of shutdowns since, but now, theres the prospect of more closures to come. The Smaller Stores are especially at risk. Mike ashley said about the house of fraser buyout but he added mr ashley said some stores were still losing money, even though their rent had been cut to nothing. Sports direct results were due to be published 11 days ago, but they were delayed time and time again. The reason for that now appears to be this huge £605 million tax bill demanded by the belgian authorities. The Company Believes its unlikely it will actually have to pay that full amount. And theres also been a loss of £55 million at house of fraser since that company was taken over. Mike ashley said with the gift of hindsight, he mightve made a different decision about stepping to rescue the chain. Andy moore, bbc news. Two people have died and a number of others have been injured after a balcony collapsed at a nightclub in the south korean city of gwangju in the early hours of this morning. The injured include several athletes competing at the world swimming championships being held in the same city. 0ur correspondent laura bicker joins us from seoul. What more do we know . Awful news. This was a kind of 2 tiered nightclub so the bar was on the bottom and on the top there was a drinking and dancing area and according to eyewitnesses, about two am it just seems according to eyewitnesses, about two am itjust seems that one of the balconies has totally given way. According to one of the members of the new zealand mens water polo team, he said one minute he was dancing and the next he fell five or six feet. He said the team did what they could. Two South Koreans were taken to hospital and they, sadly, later died from their injuries. What we do know is 17 people in total we re we do know is 17 people in total were injured. Nine of whom appear to be athletes competing at those National Aquatics championships. When it comes to the athletes themselves, four were from the United States and two appear to have been from new zealand. The injuries at this stage do not appear to be serious. Laura, thank you. Railway passengers planning journeys between london and nottingham and sheffield have been urged not to travel as disruption caused by hot weather enters a third day. East Midlands Trains customers have been told to expect a significantly reduced service to and from st pancras due to repair work on overhead lines damaged by the heat. A revised timetable will also operate on several local routes because of industrial action by the rmt union. Fresh demonstrations are expected to take place in hong kong later, in protest at the Police Response to attacks on pro democracy campaigners by alleged gang members. More than a0 people were injured in the assault last week. Its the latest escalation in weeks of clashes between police and protestors. Lets join our correspondent Stephen Mcdonell in hong kong now. Stephen, good morning. These protests have been going on for awhile and this latest demonstration is about the Police Response, protesters say it too slow . Exactly, iam in protesters say it too slow . Exactly, i am in the Yuen Long Area where today there will be an illegal march. You will notice when we are on air activists coming through in their black t shirts which is now their black t shirts which is now the uniform. I say illegal because the uniform. I say illegal because the police have not given permission for this much and yet they have said they will defy that and still turn out here, returning to the scene of last weekends attack from alleged triad gang members on protesters. So they are coming here and saying they wa nt they are coming here and saying they wantan enquiry they are coming here and saying they want an enquiry into those attacks last weekend. They want to know why the police took so long to arrive. And already, they have had something ofan and already, they have had something of an apology from the number two in the government here who has said they did not handle it well. We know people are coming because you can see these pro democracy messages on the wall here, already activists have been gathering here this morning, putting these messages up, and within the hour they will start marching. Riot police are also on scene and they have said anyone here will be acting illegally so we are expecting more clashes here, essentially violent. Stephen, thank you for now and we will get more from you later. Stephen mcdonnell that with more on the protest, and we will check in with him a little later. The summer heatwave has broken records across the world, and not even the arctic has escaped the dramatic rise in temperatures. There have been hundreds of wildfires within forests in the arctic circle, including siberia, alaska and greenland. Plumes of smoke from the fires can be seen from space. Ramzan karmali has more. Wildfires are ravaging the arctic. Areas of northern siberia, northern scandinavia and greenland have been engulfed in flames. Lightning often triggers fires in the region but this year, they are lasting longer. This fire at grouse creek in alaska has been burning since the 10th ofjuly. So far, over two million acres of forest land have been scorched in the state. The temperature was much higher than the average, and also things like the soil moisture and the amount of precipitation is much lower than the average. What this means is its much drier, much warmer, so when there is an ignition, then the fires have been able to persist and spread quite quickly, and endure. Arctic fires are common between may and october but higher temperatures, blamed on Climate Change, have meant the fires this year have been more intense. Global satellites are now tracking a swathe of new and ongoing wildfires within the arctic circle. Smoke is affecting large areas, engulfing some places completely. Cities in eastern russia have noted a significant fall in air quality, with many people seeking medical help. Translation smoke is a horror. Youre choking and feel dizzy because the smell of the smoke is very strong. The fires are releasing copious volumes of Carbon Dioxide, which Scientists Say will make our planet even warmer. That means wildfires like these will become even more common. Ramzan karmali, bbc news. Drivers in the us state of newjersey has a lucky escape when a runaway tyre caused a motorway crash. This is it. The tyre can be seen rolling along the road after coming off the back of a lorry. After going over the barrier, it struck a car in oncoming traffic. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt. Ican i can only imagine. The speedy it gets up to as well. Seeing that coming towards you, can you imagine driving and. . Noone coming towards you, can you imagine driving and. . Noone was coming towards you, can you imagine driving and. . Noone was hurt. That is the main thing. Exactly. Its been a big week in politics, with borisjohnson and his new cabinet setting out their promises on brexit and policing. Today, the new Prime Minister will pledge a new high speed rail line between manchester and leeds. It comes a day after the labour Leaderjeremy Corbyn announced he would make a multibillion pound investment in tidal power on the river mersey if he was elected. You caught up with him during his visit to the region yesterday, and you started by asking him. . About all of the plans he has for the the river at here in the mersey has a huge river flow the river at here in the mersey has a huge riverflow anyway the river at here in the mersey has a huge river flow anyway but it has a huge river flow anyway but it has a massive title rise and fall and so the possibilities of a barrage across the mersey can generate a very large amount of electricity. It would also create jobs in its construction and management and also create a whole Technology Centre and it is part of the green industrial revolution. We cannot come on pumping Carbon Dioxide into the air without expecting consequences. It will create jobs but the thing that will create jobs but the thing that will make a difference to spending on railways and roads . Those other things that will change peoples lives every day so why not prioritise those. It is not in either or. This will take some time to develop and construct, it will not happen in the next of years, the studies have to be done and commitments made. We are here to make those commitments to support the building of it but at the same time, we need the electrification of the railway line across the north from hull to liverpool, from liverpool to manchester, and so on. We need much better interconnectivity across the north and we have already said we will invest in crossrail for the north. You will appreciate the scepticism about these and we had about the Northern Powerhouse and it didnt happen so why should people believe you . We are absolutely committed to it and you . We are absolutely committed to itand our you . We are absolutely committed to it and our transformation funds will be regionally based and not all based in whitehall and when the government set out its powerhouse for the north it had an office in whitehall to administer it. We would move the treasury to the north, moving an awful lot to the north in order to ensure that that fairness of National Investment begins to be a reality. I want to talk about brexit because borisjohnson yesterday said i have a clear plan now for brexit. He says you have turned into a remain. Are you . All he is offered in his red Leadership Campaign since is a cliff edge brexit and behind that, a trade deal with the United States which will mean with the United States which will m ea n loss with the United States which will mean loss of regulations, loss of rights and indeed, the danger to the National Health service with American Healthcare firms coming in. We are saying if he comes back to parliament with a nodal brexit, we will absolutely vote against it and do our best to block that. Many people are confused about where you stand on the issue. It is not clear and you are not clearly coming out for remain and you are not clearly coming upfor for remain and you are not clearly coming up for leave. Johnson comes up coming up for leave. Johnson comes up with a nodal brexit and we have said it is dangerous forjobs and industry and all of our regulations and rights. That would be a disaster and rights. That would be a disaster and in those circumstances we would obviously vote against that and ask that a referendum be held and put to parliament and in those circumstances we would campaign and vote for remain. Rowing speculation were getting into the territory of calling a general election and wonder whether for you it is calling a general election and wonder whetherfor you it is better to fight a general election in or out of the european union. To fight a general election in or out of the european unionlj to fight a general election in or out of the european union. I won a general election as soon as we can so we can general election as soon as we can so we can guide our own future in this i so we can guide our own future in this i want. The moment we are due to come out at the end of 0ctober. If there is an election before that, fine, we can determine our own future and negotiate accordingly. This is a government, a very right wing government, a very aggressive government with very much free market economic ideas at its heart was up i think they should have a general election for the people of this country can decide do they want to go down the road of investment and inclusion for the future with labour they to go down the road of tax cuts for the rich the road of tax cuts for the rich the tories. That was Jeremy Corbyn yesterday in liverpool. The Prime Minister, borisjohnson, yesterday in liverpool. The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, in yesterday in liverpool. The Prime Minister, borisjohnson, in the north west today for a series of announcements. Lets talk now to the conservative mp david morris, and labours lucy powell mp. It has been a very busy week. Welcome. It does feel like we are in a campaigning period now out of a general election. Jeremy corbyn talking about bringing total power to the north west, borisjohnson promising to put more money into the transplant and service between manchester and leeds. It feels like we have heard this before, lucy. Certainly the boris announcement today. Even hearing you now announcing that as Prime Minister borisjohnson takes announcing that as Prime MinisterBoris Johnson takes you back, cant quite believe he is Prime Minister. And that we are there already. This week has felt like the beginning of the general election. All the pre general election phase. I was was Jeremy Corbyn last night at a rally in manchester. And that is what it felt like. It felt like a general election rally. We are getting the promises and pledges. I think for my own party my message last night was with all now got to galvanizing get behind jeremy with all now got to galvanizing get behindjeremy and with all now got to galvanizing get behind jeremy and unite and take that message up to the country galvanise and. We could lose a general election to Boris Johnson. We are told from borisjohnson that he will not call a general election, that there is nothing happening before the end of october. But theresa may said exactly the same thing, didnt she . Should we believe him . For various reasons are believe there is not going to be an election this side of neck sum at the very earliest. The reason for that is we have to get brexit out of the way. Next summer. I im not so sure we will live on the 31st. But even if we do have to go with no deal we would have to have exhaust
