As the general Election Campaign gets into full swing, labour and the conservatives are making big spending pledges. From next year ministers are saying that will change and it will go up by the rate of inflation. Labour isnt convinced. It thinks its a cynically timed announcement to coincide with the start of the general Election Campaign. And its promising wholesale change to the benefits system, really, and the scrapping of universal credit altogether. Labours making a big announcement of its own today to create 450,000 newjobs by making sure that homes are more energy efficient. Things like better insulation, triple glazing, and Better Energy protections. It says that it wants a green revolution across the country. The liberal democrats have formally complained after itv said its head to head Election Debate would only include Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn. The party said its leader, jo swinson, should also appear in the debate later this month, suggesting her absence risks misrepresenting the current political reality. Itv said it intends to offer viewers balanced election coverage. Our Political Correspondent, Jessica Parker is here. As wildfires have raged across parts of eastern australia there have been concerns over the fate of hundreds of koalas. Many are believed to have died but there have been some survivors. Tim allman has the story. His name, for reasons unexplained, is corduroy paul, and hes been very, very lucky indeed. He was found curled up in a ball, dehydrated and clinging to life. Along with another koala called anwin, corduroy paul survived the fires that have ravaged his habitat. Thousands of hectares of land destroyed, trees and foliage turned to ash. Koalas are especially vulnerable, often defenceless in the face of the flames. Its just gone straight through and very little would actually survive in there unscathed.
