You can keep up with all the latest developments on bbc website. From the six team, its goodbye. The news continues here on bbc one as now its time to join our colleagues across the nations and regions for the news where you are. Hello there. I am 0lly foster. Here is what is coming up for you on sportsday this evening. Making Cricket A Game for everyone. But the ecb say they cant meet all the recommendations of an equality and diversity report. After the wallabies are walloped by wales, eddies jones is feeling the heat at the world cup. Anarchy at ajax as their fans force their game against feyenoord to be abandoned, the dutch fa say they have to finish the match this week. Also coming up on sportsday the white water, White Knuckle ride Kimberley Woods talks us through her gold medal winning run in kayak cross. Good evening to you. Welcome along. Three months ago, the independent commission for equity in cricket really tore into the sport. Following a two year investigation, they returned with a report claiming that racism, sexism, classism and elitism was widespread in the english and welsh game. The ecb itself had commissioned that report and today say they accept most of the 44 recommendations. An independent regulator will be established to deal with discrimination, corruption, doping, misconduct and safeguarding. Theyll devise an action plan to get more state school students, black and ethnically Diverse Communities playing cricket. They want to break down the financial barriers in the sport and will look to redefine Talent Pathways at the counties. Theyll invest an extra £25 million a year to further grow the womens game at every level. But they havent commited to the timeframe for equal pay. They say the commercial value between the mens and womens game is still vast and they still have to grow the demand and audience for womens cricket something former england batter Claire Taylor understands. The amount of money that the ecb has got to invest in the game as a whole is not infinite, so they have had three months to come up with a response, and it is clear that there still some decisions that need be made. I dont think anyone knows from that report that the ecb has put out what £25 million actually means in terms of the change in investment in the game, but if we go by the outcomes they are seeking to make it, i think that is quite a statement. Azeem rafiq, whose experience of racism led to major changes and sanctions at yorkshire, gave his reaction to the ecb response today. I think they accepted the recommendations, but it was the clarity around how they were going to implement it. And i think reading the response, theres a couple of positives, but on a large basis, i think it lacks a lot of detail. Incredibly disappointing and a little bit frustrating. Lacking detail and disappointing, says azeem rafiq. Lets speak to our Sports Editor dan roan. Good evening to you, it is a huge undertaking, this, isnt it, for the ecb . And three months is a fairly short period of time for them to get their head around that extensive report that came back from the equity commission. Report that came back from the equity commission. Thats right, it is a hue equity commission. Thats right, it is a huge undertaking. Equity commission. Thats right, it is a huge undertaking. They equity commission. Thats right, it is a huge undertaking. They said i is a huge undertaking. They said today in fact it will cost them tens of millions of pounds to bring about what they hope will be, what they called a generational change, a complete reset of english cricket. They are on a mission, they say, to turn into the most Inclusive Sport in the country, and they are trying to draw attention to the fact that more than 90 of the recommendations that the icc report came up with three month cycle are being implemented and among the Headline Grabbing measures they are bringing in, as youve been hearing, the pretty first time, matchdays will be equalfor pretty first time, matchdays will be equal for mens and womens cricket at england level, anyway. Currently, Women Internationals get match fees that are several times less than what the man earned. This independent regulator to try to improve the independence and the regulatory process when it comes to allegations of discrimination and other areas of potential wrongdoing. It remains to be seen is really how that will work. It falls short of the entirely independent Realtor Football is about to have, appointed by government, but it is a further added independence from what is currently the case independent regulator that football. An independent action plans designed to remove the barriers that currently make it so hard for members of certain ethnic minority communities, children at state school and girls and women to play the game. Whether or not these measures are successful and bring about the changes that the ecb hopes, i think it is too early to say. There are also areas they say they cannot bring in the recommendations. Not least parity when it comes to actual salaries, central contracts, which make up the vast majority of what cricketers in a professional sense earned in this country, an indication of england, central contracts would be worth around £100,000 of the top level for around £100,000 of the top level for a female player, around £800,000 to £1 million for a male player, so a big golf. They are not going to be eating to that at this stage, because of financial realities, because of financial realities, because of financial realities, because of the difference in the revenues of the two respective games, and there is some concern about the fact there does not seem to be an immediate addressing of the coaching and the kit costs many children face and as a result dont, are not able to get involved with age group Talent Pathways at counties like torture. Finally enough, yorkshire had brought in measures to address that, but across the country, that is still an area but it seems, where there is a lack of detail and the ecb want to try and address it but admit they cannot do it immediately. Do it immediately. There is some realism in do it immediately. There is some realism in there, do it immediately. There is some realism in there, isnt do it immediately. There is some realism in there, isnt there, do it immediately. There is some i realism in there, isnt there, about what they can actually afford . We heard about that report, talking about sexism, but there are other issues, and racism, but it comes to classism and elitism, is that going to be a little bit harder to identify in the first place and then tackle . . ,. ,. Tackle . The ecb today did reinforce the fact that tackle . The ecb today did reinforce the fact that they tackle . The ecb today did reinforce the fact that they are tackle . The ecb today did reinforce the fact that they are putting tackle . The ecb today did reinforce the fact that they are putting £2 the fact that they are putting £2 million of extra funding into various charity partners. For example, the south asian cricket academy, which has had Great Success in birmingham, they make up a large proportion of recreational cricket players, but far fewer, proportion of recreational cricket players, but farfewer, around proportion of recreational cricket players, but far fewer, around 5 when you look at the professional game, so theyre going to benefit from that additional funding, but as i say there is concern perhaps more could be done when it comes to age Group Cricket in counties, because there are children whose parents cannot afford the hundreds of pounds that it can cost to enter these elite Academy Squads at age Group Cricket, so i think that is an area where the ecb will be under some pressure to do in the biltmore, and then when it comes to symbolism, one of the recommendations the icc report came up with, you may remember, was to do away with the annual Eden Anniversary and will match which takes place at lords eaton university. The ecb have said it is not their fixture, it cannot be for them to decide, the trickle club have issued a statement saying, not mighty to change it, not before 2027, and it will be 2026 until england and play the first test match at lords the cricket club. Some feel if the game is really serious about becoming more inclusive and more equal, it needs to address elements like that quicker, and in terms of the icc panel, the head of the panel is yet to give her thoughts. She says she needs more time to digest these measures before she makes comments. Dan roan, our sport editor, thank you very much indeed. Its a rest day at the Rugby World Cup. Oh, to be a fly on the wall inside the australia camp after their record defeat in the tournament, 40 6 to wales, a result that leaves the two time champions staring at their earliest exit. Lets speak to finn morton, who writes for rugby pass. Hes in lyon, where they suffered that defeat last night. Where do we start with this . Where are the fingers pointing . Eddie jones are the fingers pointing . Eddie jones wants are the fingers pointing . Eddie jones wants the are the fingers pointing . Eddie jones wants the fingers are the fingers pointing . Eddie jones wants the fingers to are the fingers pointing . Eddie jones wants the fingers to be l jones wants the fingers to be pointed towards him at the moment. He walked into the post match Press Commerce Last Night and it really took responsibility and ownership for the record defeat, that will most likely see the wallabies bow out of the Rugby World Cup at the pool stage for the first time. Eddie apologised to the australian rugby public, but fans on social media and fans i have heard from here in lyon take appreciation from those comments from eddie. It is very hard situation for them to grasp at the moment, it essentially unfathomable, or least and was at one stage, the wallabies, the two time Rugby World Cup champions bow out at eight pool stage, but here we are. The writing has been on the wall for some time, they were 0 5 coming into the world cup, and the win over georgia was a minor step in the right direction, but like i said, the writing was on the wall. No giant of International Rugby has fallen harder than the wallabies, and i think that is apparent at the moment, on what is probably the darkest day in australian rugby history. There was friction from australian rugby history. There was friction from the australian rugby history. There was friction from the auf, australian rugby history. There was friction from the auf, wasnt australian rugby history. There wasj friction from the auf, wasnt there . I remember when the squad departed for france, eddiejones rounded on the media, he sort of lost a lot of goodwill in his spell at england, but you think you have to stick with him and things will come good . I think eddie is australias man, i think eddie is australias man, i think he has to be. He is the only coach i think that concerns Wallabies Team around, despite what the results from this or have suggested. I think there are two things that rugby aastra have to consider when it comes to whether they stick with eddie jones consider when it comes to whether they stick with eddiejones or move on in another direction Rugby Australia. That is financial costs and candidates. Financially, at the heart of this year, they wouldve paid out dave reading on a handsome deal and here we are, nine, paid out dave reading on a handsome dealand here we are, nine, ten months later, and Rugby Australia are supposed to do the same thing . That is quite a lot of money onto coaches not coaching the National Team any more, and that is not including a potential third coach you would come into the set up, and we have nrl starsjumping in. A lot of money and Rugby Australia has to weigh this up and way of whether they can afford to spend it moving forward, and then like i said, candidates, who do you bring in . Eddiejones is the man who turned england around after the disastrous World Cup Campaign in 2015 and turn them into Rugby World Cup finalist just four years later. He was not there in 2015, but eddie has shown with time, with patience, he can get the most out of players when they have otherwise been bested on the international stage. Otherwise been bested on the international stage. There is always miracles. International stage. There is always miracles you international stage. There is always miracles. You do international stage. There is always miracles. You do the international stage. There is always miracles. You do the Job International stage. There is always miracles. You do the job against. Miracles. You do the job against portugal, fiji plus their lines, you never know like i surely going home early. Finn morton from rugby pass, thank you. Might be going home early. Police say theyre not treating the death of Sheffield United womens player maddy cusack as suspicious. Tributes were paid before before the mens match against Newcastle United yesterday. She was the first player to reach 100 appearances for the womens team last season. She died last week at the age of 27. Derbyshire police today said they were called to an address in horsley on wednesday evening, where cusack was pronounced dead at the scene. There were shocking scenes in the netherlands last night. Losing 3 0 to feyenoord, ajax fans forced their match to be abandoned in the second half. They lit flares, vandalised their own stadium and clashed with Police Outside the ground. Ajax have been asked to play the remainder of the match Behind Closed Doors this wednesday, but the club say theyre worried about fixture congestion. Patrick gearey reports.
