A summer temperatures continue to rise, taking frequent breaks and staying hydrated can help with beating the heat. Crystal Hardin, a paramedic with Wayne County Emergency Medical Services, said people should use caution when temperatures rise, especially when the heat index hits the triple digits as it can in July. âGet out of the heat,â Hardin said. âGo sit in the air. Go get something to eat. Do some things that kind of give your body the chance to recuperate and replenish.â Hardin said Wayne County EMS personnel respond to a lot of heat-related emergencies in July and August each year.
