The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is scheduled to conduct aerial spraying for black flies, also known as biting gnats, on Wednesday over parts of Northampton and Bucks counties, according to a news release Tuesday from Northampton County.
A helicopter is set to take off about 7 a.m. from Braden Airpark in Forks Township to apply the naturally occurring bacteria Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (B.t.i.) along the Delaware River from near Yardley to the Frost Hollow overlook area north of Easton, and along the Lehigh River from the Easton Dam to about six miles upstream.
