Grant funds tapped for generator Bellaire City Council authorized the city to accept over $180,000 in disaster grant funding from the Texas Division of Emergency Management, funding that will be used to install a permanent diesel generator with an automatic transfer switch at Feld Park. With a match from the city of over $60,000, the total project cost is $240,000, which will pay for a new backup power system that will allow the city to maintain critical water-system pressure and continuity of operations during prolonged power outages. “Oftentimes, after a national disaster such as Harvey, the state likes to find projects where they can elevate such things as a generator,” said ChaVonne Sampson, the city’s Director of Development Services.
