Bend's Old Mill rock chucks are a common sight | Local&State

The chances of seeing a yellow bellied marmot, commonly known as "rock chucks", when driving down to the Old Mill District in Bend are pretty high. The omnivorous critters are similar to the squirrel family but visibly different. They burrow their plump bodies in crevices beneath the rocks and are known to be 4 to 12 pounds, with the males being larger than females.
