Ross Houliston, the residents’ association research and submissions officer, said they wanted to add the logo to the Denton Park grandstand “to try and bring a bit of pride into the area and a bit of pride back to Christchurch”. The residents’ association has asked the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board to fund the idea. The council's acting head of community support, governance and partnerships, Gary Watson, said the residents’ association and the board’s governance team would develop the proposal further. The board had a discretionary response fund, which the council hoped could fund the project.
