The emergency services were called out to the Queensway Tunnel at around 8pm last night ( Monday) following reports of an accident. The tunnel was closed while the scene of the accident was cleared. This morning Merseytravel told the ECHO that the tunnel had been reopened. Last night Merseytravel said that the accident involved a lorry. The posted a comment on social media which read: "Merseytravel tweeted: "The Queensway #Birkenhead Tunnel is closed due to an incident where a large vehicle has struck some fixtures within the tunnel causing damage.
