MONROEÂ â Several students were recognized during the Board of Educationâs meeting on Monday, May 10, while the head of the local teachersâ union asked the board, during public participation, to consider next yearâs âinstructional model.â Marie Blake said the dual teaching model that had to be adopted during the pandemic was taking a toll on teachers. She said while this model of having students in the classroom and remotely via computer was one that was necessary âto surviveâ the pandemic, it would be difficult to continue doing so. Two students were recognized as College Board National Recognition Program Scholars: Emily Dial and Emmanuel Hernandez. The award is an acknowledgement of their performance on the PSATs.
