Dwell on what he had lost or push forward with gratitude and appreciation for what he still had. He chose the latter brother in law, Keith Van Orden. I think he knew that he was special. I don't think he always knew why. And I say that only because you walk down the street with them and he'd be stopped several times. His family says he struggled at times with the fame that followed his accident. But as someone who always strove to be as good as he could be decided he would use his platform to achieve that goal. He wanted to see what a difference he could make on git kept him not only feeling like he was giving back, but it gave him hope that someday there would be a cure. The Travis Roy Foundation, which celebrates its 20th year this year, has raised millions for research and for more than 2000 others living with spinal cord injuries. It really comes down to the heart that TRAV had on bond giving nature and the fact that every interaction with him you just felt better of life's challenges, Roy said. It is what we do in the face of those challenges that defines who we are and, more importantly, who we can and will become talk about rising to the occasion. I don't think I ever felt like I was chosen, but I felt like I had an opportunity. You know, I felt like I just as I had a choice, I could really use it, try to do something productive with it. It's worked out well. Travis was deeply involved with his foundation up until yesterday. If you would like to honor him, his family says, please consider donating whatever.
