Sciascia announced his decision not to run in a Facebook post on June 9. "I believe that District 2 residents will always be served better by a resident and neighbor they trust than by somebody with political 'experience,' so it was never my intention to run for office again and again," Sciascia said in his post. "Refusing campaign contributions and not having to worry about re-election campaigns has helped me stay focused on listening to the residents."
