BRATTLEBORO â With the weather forecast calling for more than an inch of rain Thursday, Brattleboro Town Manager Peter Elwell is warning town residents to be prepared for some street flooding. âThe meteorologists are warning us of very heavy, extremely heavy rain, from Christmas Eve into Christmas morning,â said Elwell, during Tuesday nightâs Select Board meeting. According to the National Weather Service, Brattleboro and the region could get one to two inches of rain overnight into Friday, with close to another inch of rain on Christmas day. âHeavy rain may fall on a deep primed snowpack leading to the melt increasing,â states a NWS warning. âFlows in rivers may increase quickly and reach critical levels.â
