The company announced Thursday that it will hold point-to-point demonstrations of the technology in North Carolina next week. BridgeComm said this Optical Wireless Communications (OWC) technology can meet demands for fast and secure point-to-point data transmission in areas where fiber is not available, and without the compromises of Radio Frequency (RF) communications. The company has worked with Nokia network equipment and services backed by Nokia Bell Labs on this technology. Nokia and BridgeComm are working to construct and operate a private wireless network based on standardized 3GPP architectures.
