Chancellor Rishi Sunak has been urged not to axe the Green Homes Grant scheme in tomorrow’s Budget or risk job losses and the UK missing its climate targets. Nineteen organisations representing the energy-efficiency sector have signed a joint letter to the government to outline the importance of the Green Homes Grant voucher scheme to upgrading the energy efficiency of UK homes. The letter has been signed by trade bodies and companies such as the Heat Pump Association, the Insulated Assurance Authority, the Microgeneration Certification Scheme, Caplor, Sustainable Building Services and Westville Group. The letter said: “Premature closure of the Green Homes Grant scheme would put jobs in jeopardy, dash the dreams of homeowners and put the UK’s net-zero target at significant risk.”
