Bundle up! Wind chill, single-digit temps keep region on ice

WORCESTER — The wind chill dropped to minus 19 in the city at 8 a.m. Friday. The thermometer reading was 2 degrees Fahrenheit.
Another reason to stay inside.
Rich Valcourt of Phillipston planned to do just that, but not before he picked up a few exterior doors for a house project. A house project he planned to delay.
“It’s terrible,” he said as he loaded a door into his pickup at the Home Depot on Gold Star Boulevard. “You cannot work, I can't work, especially installing doors. … I’m not gonna install these today. I’m going to get it in the truck and go home and get next to the fire.”
