Police said William J. Thompson was traveling south on Route 13 approaching State Fair Boulevard just after 5:30 p.m. A Buick SUV was stopped at the stop sign on State Fair Boulevard, preparing to cross the south lanes of Route 13 and enter the median crossover to travel north, police said. "Due to the extreme rate of speed by the motorcycle, the operator of the Buick was unable to perceive the motorcycle and began to crossover the southbound travel lanes," police said in a press release.
