Candidates for state superintendent participate in virtual forum

Six of the candidates running for state superintendent of schools shared their thoughts on school funding models, educational equity gaps and budget advocacy in a virtual forum Wednesday night.
The forum was hosted by the Association for Equity in Funding, an advocacy group for funding systems that are equitable across school districts in Wisconsin.
The candidates who participated were: Steve Krull, a Milwaukee elementary school principal; Jill Underly, superintendent of Pecatonica School District; Sheila Briggs, an assistant state superintendent at the state Department of Public Instruction; Troy Gunderson, a Viterbo University professor and former superintendent of the School District of West Salem; Shandowlyon Hendricks-Williams, former director of Evers' Milwaukee office; and Deborah Kerr, former superintendent of the Brown Deer School District.
