FURIOUS campaigners were doused in “oil” during a theatrical protest against plans to more than double the amount of fuel stored at a plant on Canvey. Wearing T-shirts with “no more oil” written on them, protestors from Extinction Rebellion gathered outside the Castle Point Council offices on Wednesday. If given the green light by the Government, Oikos would expand its storage facility from 290,000 m3 to 600,000 m3 at the site off Haven Road. The plans also involve new giant tanks on the south side of the estate, with new pipes and loading arms to move fuel in and out from the existing jetties.
