Delaware News Journal More than 30 cats were rescued this week from what one local organization called a "hoarding situation," and many of the cats have medical needs. The caretaker of the cats recently died, and the cats were "at risk of being dumped, abandoned to fend for themselves," Faithful Friends Animal Society said. Faithful Friends, the Delaware SPCA and Delaware Humane Association were at the residence on Tuesday to get the cats to take to their shelters. Seven of the cats went to Faithful Friends, and all of them were found to have tapeworms. One cat will need surgery to remove her top teeth due to severe stomatitis, which causes extreme swelling and pain in the mouth.
