PLANS by the county council to extend a cemetary on the Herefordshire border have taken a big step forward as work starts. Work to extend Presteigne Cemetery has started, and Powys County Council said, once complete, will provide enough space at both facilities for the next 100 years. The work, which is taking place on land adjacent to the existing cemetery, started at the end of February by removing hedgerows in advance of the nesting season. As well as additional burial capacity, the council said it will include 20 car parking spaces as well as improved access to the site. Work to install infrastructure will start shortly and is expected to take up to six weeks to complete.
