Challenge Academy changes lives of local grads : vimarsana.c

CODY — Jacob Small, 17, had a problem: School just wasn’t for him. He knew the only way to get on in life was to get an education, but even if he did, he wasn’t sure what would come next.
Then he found the Wyoming Cowboy Challenge Academy, in Guernsey.
“It was definitely a big change, positive change in my life,” Small said. “I don’t regret a single bit of it.”
Since it opened in 2005, the National Guard-run program has seen more than 800 of its students earn GEDs, diplomas or other high school-equivalency certifications — nearly 65% of its graduates.
