Brenden Hooper, 2 months in November, is treated at Cincinnati Children's Medical Center. Doctors used a new device that can remove excess fluids from small babies with critical kidney disease or injury. The machine saved his life, said doctors.

The critically ill 2-month-old was flown by medical helicopter to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, the first and only place in the United States that had the special new technology that might save his life.
Cincinnati Children’s has three new dialysis devices used for small babies who suffer from acute kidney injury or kidney failure – and Dr. Stuart Goldstein, the hospital's director of the Center for Acute Care Nephrology, was a medical consultant on the technology development.
